General description

This table provides the current audiology services waiting times data.

Audiology pathways were reported as a therapies specialty until March 2024. From the April 2024 publication, audiology pathways are reported separately on StatsWales. These pathways have been removed from the full back series of therapies data, meaning there is no impact on the comparability of the series over time.

Data collection and calculation

Please find this information in the related statistical release, as per the given weblink.

From 1st April 2019 health service provision for residents of Bridgend local authority moved from Abertawe Bro Morgannwg to Cwm Taf. For more information see the joint statement from Cwm Taf and Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Boards (see weblinks). The health board names have changed with Cwm Taf University Health Board becoming Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board becoming Swansea Bay University Health Board. A link to the statement from the minister for health and social service can be found in the weblinks section.

Sites that were previously included under Community in Betsi Cadwaladr have been included individually in the data from October 2019 onwards. These sites are Abergele Hospital, Bryn Beryl Hospital, Cefni Hospital, Dolgellau & Barmouth District, Eryri Hospital, NW Cancer Treament Centre, Ruthin Community Hospital, Tywyn & District War Memorial, Ysbyty Alltwen and Ysbyty Penrhos Stanley.

Weight management pathways were reported in the dietetics specialty until March 2024. From April they are no longer reported, following an investigation which identified inconsistencies in the ways in which they were recorded by health boards. Weight management pathways will be reinstated when consistent definitions and standards can be applied across Wales. They cannot be removed from the historical data series, meaning therapies figures from April 2024 are not directly comparable with the series up to March 2024. Based on the March data, the removal of these pathways causes a reduction of around 5,200 therapies pathways in total, of which around 3,200 were waiting over 14 weeks.
