[Collapse]Treatment BandFrom June 2014 onwards, no Units of Dental Activity are allocated to the contract if dentists submit their activity data more than two months from the date of completion of a course of treatment. The courses of treatments are still recorded. This applies to all treatment Bands. <br /><br />The Total includes the category \'domiciliary visit\' and may not be the sum of the categories shown (Band 1, Band 2, Band 3, Free, Urgent).<br /><br />The \'Free\' total includes the category \'not known\' and may not be the sum of the Free categories shown.<br />[Filtered]

ItemThe total includes dentists working in the Emergency Dental Service and some CDS (Community Dental Service) staff working on a PDS contract.Performers are counted in every LHB where they have a contract and therefore can be counted more than once. [Collapse]Courses of TreatmentCourses of Treatment:The difference between the annual and quarterly figures is that the annual figures take account of late submissions of FP17 forms by dentists to NHS Dental Services, whereas the quarterly figures do not. Information on any NHS dental work completed by an NHS dentist is submitted to NHS Dental Services for payment on an FP17 form, the majority of which are electronic submissions. Furthermore, the term \'Claims for Treatment\' was replaced by \'Courses of Treatment\' in the annual dental release in August. The two terms are interchangeable and refer to the same construct, however it was decided to use \'Courses of Treatment\' to allow comparisons to be made with the other UK countries and to avoid confusion. The courses of treatment data is comparable to the claims for treatment data previously.[Collapse]Units of NHS Dental Activity (UDAs)Units of Dental Activity. This is the technical term used in the new NHS Dental Contract regulations to describe weighted claims for treatment. They refer to the whole claim, not just individual items.
