General description

Number of smoke alarms in building fires which failed to operate, by reason.
Note: data refers to number of smoke alarms rather than fires. There are a small number of incidents where more than one smoke alarm was located in the building and the details for each smoke alarm have been included in these tables.
Note: 2008-09 Figures are partially based on sampled data, weighted to true brigade totals.
2009-10 data were extracted from IRS in May 2011.
2010-11 data were extracted from IRS in May 2012.
2011-12 data were extracted from IRS in May 2013.
2012-13 data were extracted from IRS in May 2014.
2013-14 and 2014-15 data were extracted in June 2015.
2014-15 data are provisional and will be updated next year
